Early Care and Education
The Bachelor in Early Care and Education (BECE) is designed to prepare teachers and related personnel for employment in the fields of child care and children’s services, for young children from birth to age five. This degree program is a joint initiative from two FAU College of Education Departments: the Department of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and the Department of Curriculum, Culture, and Educational Inquiry (CCEI). This degree prepares graduates to teach, to lead, and to gain expertise with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Graduates with the BECE will be eligible for positions in private and public educational settings as teachers, infant/toddler specialists, staff developers, and center directors. Graduates also will be eligible to further their education by pursuing master’s degree programs in various early childhood disciplines.
