How Can We Help?

I have an internship and want to share it with students

The FAU Career Center has partnered with Handshake - a modern career development platform - to be your one-stop-shop for connecting with our talented students and alumni. In Handshake, you can post jobs and internships, register for career fairs and events and more. Click here to post your position.

In order for your internship opportunity to be posted, employers must agree to our Internship Agreement and abide by our Internship Posting Policy, as well as our other Recruitment Policies and Procedures.

Once you have found an intern, let us know by emailing intern@fau.edu.

I would like to create an internship program

Our Employer Internship Playbook is a great resource to help you build an internship program step by step. Subjects include, “Compensation Levels”, “Unpaid Internships – Are They Legal?”, “Orienting and Training the Intern”, and more!

If you are looking to create or further develop your internship program, we would love to meet with you to assist in this process. If you would like to set up a time to meet with us, please feel free to contact us at intern@fau.edu or 561-297-3533.

I would like to know more about experiential learning/job shadowing

The Owls-on-the-Job Shadow Program offers students a “First Look” into an organization, to see what a day in the life of a career looks like. This valuable experience can be anywhere from half a day to one day (for in-person job shadow programs), up to 1 week (for externships). Virtual job shadow programs will be one to two hour long via Zoom.

Not only is this a benefit to students because of the valuable insight they will receive, but it can also benefit your organization in the following ways:

  • Meet and interact with the student talent at FAU
  • Bring awareness to your organization and its hiring needs
  • Establish a pipeline to fill part-time, full-time and internship positions
  • Become a potential mentor to students working toward their careers

The program takes place during FAU’s Winter Break, and Spring Break/Reading Days. As a host organization, you will be responsible for providing students an opportunity to shadow and interact with your organization in a way that helps them in finding out if the career they have in mind is right for them. You will also choose how long the experience will be and how many students you would like to host.

If you would like to participate in the Owls-on-the-Job Shadow Program, please email intern@fau.edu to get the process started.

I have/had an FAU intern. What’s next?

If you have an FAU student currently interning with you, please let us know by emailing intern@fau.edu. We can reach out to your student with important information about receiving credit for their internship.

If you've had FAU interns recently, we would love to know as well. Please report these hires to us.
