Ricardo Williams, who next Spring 2021 will graduate from the School of Architecture, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts & Letters, plans to compete in the Tiny House 2020 Architecture Competition by Volume Zero. The challenge is to design an "innovative, creative, with a sustainable edge, Tiny House that doesn't exceed 300 square feet." Williams is up for the challenge as he has always been passionate about design.

"Ever since I was little I have always loved drawing, assembling things, always curious of how things come together," Williams said. "When the time to choose my career path came, the option was between studying architecture or graphic design. I chose to study architecture and do freelance graphic design, giving me the opportunity to work for many clients in South Florida."

Williams also recently joined the Broward Administration Team's communication area. He already has improved the look and design of FAU Broward social media platforms, making the postings varied and timely. He is also responsible for the final look of FAU Broward's monthly E-Newsletter and will be working on marketing and advertising projects.

Williams, who was born and raised in Honduras, moved to South Florida with his family 20 years ago. He currently lives in Fort Lauderdale with his wife and children. "I love spending time with my family, I am happily married and have two boys. I also enjoy just relaxing watching a good movie and if it's raining. even better," Williams said.

Williams said he has had many wonderful experiences at FAU, but says the trips his class took to Savannah, Georgia for Design 7 and New York City for Design 8 stand out. "Another favorite memory are the all-nighters doing design work at the studio with my classmates, it was hard but also many times it was fun," Williams said.

After he graduates next Spring, Williams has a five year professional goal to become a licensed architect and complete a master's degree. "I see myself as a licensed architect and finishing a master's degree in construction management or civil engineering," Williams said.
