Nori Carter
Friday, Oct 01, 2021Nori Carter serves as the Director of Campus Life for Florida Atlantic University’s Broward Campuses where she oversees the areas of Student Government, Student Union, Center for Inclusion, Diversity Education and Advocacy – Broward, and the Weppner Center for LEAD & Service-Learning. "Connecting college students with a wide array of opportunities and educational awareness to address their personal and professional development makes my job rewarding," she said.
Carter decided to make the switch to higher education after having worked in the corporate world. She received her master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from FAU in 2007. "I first joined FAU in 2006 as a Research Graduate Assistant for the Department of Exercise Science and Health Promotion when the department was located on the Davie campus and part of the College of Education," she said. "After graduation, I stayed on part-time with the Davie Student Wellness Center (aka Davie Campus Rec) until receiving the opportunity in late 2008 to join FAU’s Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service-Learning on the Boca Raton campus."
In 2017 Carter was named Director of Campus Life. "I usually say that Student Affairs found me rather than me having found Student Affairs," she said. "One of my favorite experiences has been welcoming new transfer students to the Broward campuses and sharing with them through the help of my colleagues all of the support and engagement opportunities that are here for them."
Overall, Carter said she is most proud of the many "small wins" over the years that provided team members and students the opportunity to experience success, either through realizing their potential or providing them with the knowledge and skills to be successful.
Carter, who was raised in Orlando and now lives in Coconut Creek, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications—Advertising from Middle Tennessee State University. During her free time she enjoys cooking, traveling, and Orangetheory Fitness.
