Dr. Pauline Chin
Saturday, Jan 01, 2022Dr. Pauline Chin is a senior instructor in the Information Technology and Operations Management Department in the College of Business. She has been teaching advanced systems analysis and design, management information systems, data communications and information systems fundamentals at FAU since 2001. "In all of the courses I teach, I give my students academic and practical hands-on knowledge of technology and the various methodologies in the field to better equip them to compete and perform in the job market," said Dr. Chin who utilizes a combination of "pedagogical tools inclusive of case studies and analysis, videos, examples of technologies used in corporations as well as real world experiences of the students, guest speakers, and myself."
Dr. Chin has worked with faculty and staff at FAU to promote graduate and undergraduate programs. "The field of information technology is very dynamic, so I have always participated in various workshops, academic associations, and conferences to keep myself current of trends and improvements in the field. I have always strived to implement in the classroom what I have learned for the benefit of my students," said Dr. Chin who was awarded an Assessment Grant (2010) and a Curriculum Grant (2015-2017) for implementing QEP and an individual research assignment into the Systems Analysis and Design course. As part of her research portfolio, Dr. Chin has presented papers at conferences such as the International Technology, Education and Development (INTED) conference in Spain in 2016 and 2019, where she served as the Session Chair.
"My favorite experience at FAU is interacting with a wide range of students and faculty from different departments and colleges at various events on the Broward campus. These include social and academic events on the campus, as well as through being a faculty advisor for the Professional Business Leaders of America for two years," Dr. Chin said.
Dr. Chin, who was born in Jamaica and lives in Pembroke Pines, enjoys, during her limited free time, traveling and exploring new places. "I also like to read mystery novels and watch sci-fi movies," she said.
