She is now a marketing administrator with Valley Forge Fabrics in Fort Lauderdale where she supports the sales and account team and manages the company’s social media accounts. "I have the opportunity to be creative and apply my ideas successfully," Moreno said. "I am part of an amazing team that supports me, is committed to help me succeed, and creates a comfortable and fun environment."
While at FAU, Moreno was a scholar at HANDY Inc., the Fort Lauderdale organization that provides scholarships and support for students from historically marginalized communities. "Being a HANDY scholar has made a huge difference in my life as it supported me with my undergraduate studies and allowed me to successfully become the first-generation graduate in my family," Moreno said. "My best experience was meeting my mentors Esther and Andre Garnier who have graciously helped me through my undergraduate studies and with personal situations that I encountered. Also, the opportunity to meet fellow scholars and interact through events such as the HANDY annual breakfast and forums."
While at FAU, Moreno decided to major in Business Management as she wanted a degree that would provide a foundation to one day start her own business. "My favorite courses were business law and marketing since they were courses that challenged me to think out of the box and expand my perspective regarding my interactions with people and way of thinking through daily life."
Moreno, who was born in Miami and lives in Coconut Creek, plans to pursue a master’s degree within the next few years.
