Laura Sylvia Myers Memorial Award
Laura Sylvia Myers was born in 1962 and died in a car accident in 1984. Each year, the Center for Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies presents an award to an undergraduate woman in Laura’s memory. The award, which carries a $1,000 prize, is presented at the spring Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Graduation Ceremony. The deadline for applications is early March of each year. The award recognizes a female student who has demonstrated:
- scholarship in the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program
- leadership in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies
- a proven commitment to feminist ideals
Eligibility Requirements
- The award is given to a Spring graduating undergraduate woman
- You must have completed the requirements for graduation and the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Certificate from FAU by the end of the Spring semester
Materials to be Submitted
- An unofficial copy of the transcripts
- A two-page essay that describes your qualifications for the award
- At least two letters of recommendation from instructors in courses taken for the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies Certificate
