Katherine Haggar

Background

Katherine Haggar received a PhD from FAU's Comparative Studies Program (Spring 2024). Her dissertation examined the continuity of child maltreatment within families. This study highlights the need for more research on intergenerational maltreatment within families as well as a reevaluation of current national child welfare policy implications. She is also a postdoctoral researcher and study director for the Network Analysis of Family Caregiving for People Living with Dementia study at FAU. Within this role, she specializes in conducting interviews with informal caregivers to determine the social networks of people living with dementia. This research gives her team insights into how future policies and community efforts can be implemented in the continued caretaking of these individuals. In her spare time, she can be found doing silly walks or impromptu dance parties with her daughter.
