Cynthia “Cynde” Carrico holds two graduate degrees, one of which is a MA in Communication from Florida Atlantic University where she focused on Southern identity and culture within community cookbooks. She brings a strong pedagogical background with over 20 years of teaching and consulting supplemental education programs. Current research encompasses several areas of pop culture and rhetorical criticism, ranging the gamut of Multicultural Discourse in Children’s Literature to Authentic Digital Connectivity in the 21st Century.  Her most recent faculty position was at Florida International University, where she served as the Lambda Pi Eta honor society advisor and Visiting Lecturer. In her limited spare time, she is active with yoga, creative mix media art, digital photography, and youth theater. She is excited to be joining the faculty full time to continue her journey as the Director of The Speaking Center.
