Dr. Skinner-Osei research agenda is framed in social justice, human rights, and the recognition of historical and chronic trauma. Her most recent research examined the impact mass incarceration has had on African American fathers and their families and communities. She teaches a variety of social justice oriented courses in the Phyllis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work, such as Global Perspectives of Social Services, Social Welfare Policy, and Research. Additionally, she is a mentor in the Florida Atlantic University Mentoring Project, a member of the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office Human Trafficking Task Force, and recently served as a judge in the three-minute thesis (3MT) competition. She is also a member of the National Organization of Forensic Social Workers (NOFSW) and the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW). Most recently she presented at the NOFSW 2017 conference titled, “Social Justice Rising.”
