FAU Presents ‘Resistance From the Playing Field: How Sports Can Be a Powerful Force for Social Change’

Schmidt College of Arts and Letters presents the second annual Fogelman Sports Museum lecture titled “Resistance From the Playing Field: How Sports Can Be a Powerful Force for Social Change.” The lecture is presented by Dave Zirin, sports editor for The Nation. It will take place on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. in the Owl’s Nest of the Schmidt Family Complex for Academic and Athletic Excellence on FAU’s Boca Raton campus at 777 Glade Road. Dave Zirin is an American political sportswriter. He is the sports editor for The Nation, a weekly progressive magazine dedicated to politics and culture, and writes a blog called “Edge of Sports: The Weekly Sports Column by Dave Zirin.”
The Avron B. Fogelman Sports Museum is part of FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and is free and open to the public six days a week. The museum will be open before and after the lecture, and all attendees are encouraged to visit this collection of more than 1,200 pieces of sports memorabilia, from Olympic torches, to signed baseballs and football and basketball items.
