Professor Julieann Ulin, Director of Graduate Studies, will conduct a "Demystifying the Thesis" workshop Zoom on September 26th at 8pm. The workshop will focus on the core elements of the thesis proposal, the expectations for the thesis in terms of its critical intervention, solutions to common problems faced by thesis authors, and advice from faculty chairs and readers. All current MA thesis students, students returning to the program, and first years weighing the thesis option are encouraged to attend!

Professor Ulin will host an "Applying to PhD Programs in English" workshop on Zoom on October 4 at 8 pm. The workshop will cover researching programs, advice for crafting successful applications, and strategies for the statement of purpose (always a tricky part of the process) and writing sample. Feel free to bring along a draft of your materials to discuss. Individual follow-up consultations for workshop attendees will be available to support more in-depth review.

Please mark your calendars for our Faculty and Graduate Student social on October 2nd. There will be coffee and cookies at 1 pm after the English Department meeting and we anticipate that many faculty will be present to introduce themselves and meet with you. This is a great chance for you to connect with faculty not currently teaching graduate courses. For those of you in thesis/exam hours, the committee forms are due October 15 so we have planned this event to allow you to chat with potential readers. We know many of you have been looking forward to such opportunities so we hope to see you there!
Please RSVP to this event by emailing Julissa (jcorrales@fau.edu) by September 25 at 5pm.
