Ryan Keith, Howard Pearce Award for Best MA Thesis

The 2023-2024 recipient of the Howard Pearce Award is Ryan Keith for his thesis "The Philosophy of Violent Characters: A Look at Cormac McCarthy’s Judge and Chigurh" (Chair, Dr. Andrew Furman).

The Howard Pearce Award is given in recognition of an outstanding thesis in the Department of English in memory of Howard Pearce, long-time faculty member in English. Ryan's thesis was praised as "provocative, substantive, and lucidly written" and for navigating challenging texts by and about Cormac McCarthy. Connections emerged across chapters and the thesis demonstrated an attention to craft and style in its writing.

Aniska Casseus is recognized as Outstanding GTA for 2024. Congratulations Aniska! We hope you celebrate this accomplishment along with your graduation! Aniska has been an outstanding graduate instructor during her completion of her MA degree, and was recognized as Most Promising GTA in 2023.
