FAU SOA WELCOMES | ZACKERY BELANGER | FALL ‘24/SPRING ‘25 LECTURE SERIES

Tuesday, Nov 05, 2024

Join us for an engaging lecture featuring Zackery Belanger, an acclaimed acoustic designer, consultant, and researcher, with a unique focus on the intersection of physics, architecture, and sound. Belanger’s work bridges the technical and creative aspects of acoustical design, offering new insights into how sound environments can be optimized within architectural spaces.

Date: Thursday, November 7, 2024

Time: 3 PM

Location: HE 131 - MetroLAB on the FAU Ft. Lauderdale Campus

In his lecture, Belanger will delve into his journey from physicist to acoustician, tracing the key innovations he helped implement during the design of the EMPAC Concert Hall at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His discussion will highlight the cutting-edge acoustical research that has influenced both the EMPAC project and broader advancements in sound design for performance spaces. Drawing on his experience as a 2013 EMPAC researcher-in-residence, Belanger will explore how the integration of acoustical science with architectural design can transform the way we think about and experience sound in built environments.

Zackery Belanger holds both BS and MS degrees in physics from Oakland University and an MS degree in architectural sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His extensive career includes a decade-long tenure at Kirkegaard Associates, where he contributed to major acoustical projects, including the EMPAC Concert Hall. A leader in the field of acoustics, Belanger has been instrumental in pioneering approaches that enhance the auditory experience in diverse architectural contexts.

Don’t miss the chance to hear from one of the leading voices in the world of acoustic design!
