GET LECTURED: FAU’S SOA EXCITING FALL '24 / SPRING '25 SPEAKER SERIES
Monday, Nov 04, 2024The School of Architecture (SOA) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) has unveiled its much anticipated Get Lectured series for the 2024-2025 academic year. This ongoing series features a diverse roster of esteemed speakers from leading architectural schools and firms, offering students and the public a rich program of lectures and discussions.
The lecture poster featured on Archinect is designed by FAU’s SOA Director Joseph Choma and features an intriguing graphic composed of layered folds, with a symmetrical crease pattern that creates a three-dimensional effect. Choma explained that the design’s visual depth is intended to complement the complexity of the series itself.
Fall 2024 Speaker Highlights:
The Fall semester kicked off with a packed lineup, already hosting prominent speakers from top institutions such as UNC Charlotte, Northeastern University, and Harvard's Graduate School of Design (GSD). On November 7, Zackery Belanger, a leading expert in architectural acoustics, will close out the fall series with a lecture on the intersection of sound and space in architecture.
Spring 2025 Preview:
The Spring semester promises an equally exciting array of speakers:
- January 14: Mariana Popescu from TU Delft will kick off the spring lectures, offering insights from her cutting-edge work in architectural research.
- January 28: Jenny Wu of SCI-Arc will share the innovative designs and projects from the Oyler Wu Collaborative, a firm known for blending architecture with technology and material exploration.
- February 11: Michael Meredith, a Princeton University professor and co-founder of MOS Architects, will present the firm’s recent projects that challenge conventional architectural boundaries.
- March 31: The series will close with Lydia Kallipoliti, the newly appointed director of Columbia GSAPP’s Advanced Architectural Design program. Kallipoliti will delve into the intersections of sustainability, technology, and speculative design in architecture.
These events promise a unique opportunity to engage with some of the most forward-thinking minds in the field of architecture. FAU’S SOA Get Lectured series continues to foster a vibrant academic environment, inviting students and architecture enthusiasts to explore new ideas and perspectives in the built environment.
