Theme: Natural Spaces: Exploring South Florida Environments
Sponsored by Campus Recreation
This trip will focus on environmental issues effecting South Florida. The overall theme is the interaction between humans and the environment: water, trash, agriculture, tourism, etc. are all part of this relationship. It’s not just about doing service for one weekend though, but how our everyday choices affect natural spaces we might not see, but are in our backyard.
Theme: Stop Hunger Now
Boca Raton, Sponsored by Student Involvement & Leadership and Weppner Center for Civic Engagement & Service
The 2nd Annual FIT to Stop Hunger Now will engage students in the global issue of hunger through the execution of a Meal Packaging Event, the basic understandings of nonprofit functions, corporate relations, and the power of collaborations between the nonprofit sectors and for-profit sectors and the overall importance of giving back. Specially geared toward the nonprofit, Stop Hunger Now, this trip will empower the participants to become Super Volunteers for the Meal Packaging Event taking place at Florida Atlantic University April 19 at the Campus Recreation and Fitness Center. Students will be educated by the main sponsors of the event and the partnering nonprofit as well as have the opportunity to take part in in-action interviews during the actual Meal Packaging Event. Last year, participants packaged 102,000 meals and this year our goals are way bigger than that! Lead the movement to Stop Hunger Now.
