The B.A. in Theatre with an Emphasis in Design and Technology is curriculum well-suited for those who may want to pursue a career in stage technology or stage management. The curriculum is also designed to prepare students who wish to pursue an advanced degree (M.F.A.) in Theatre Design and Technology, for the purpose of entering the fields of Higher Education or Professional Theatre. To help the student achieve these goals, the F.A.U. Department of Theatre and Dance offers a rich array of courses and a 7 production season comprised of 4 mainstage theatre shows and 3 mainstage dance productions. Additionally, the Department produces 2 to 3 shows during its celebrated Summer Festival Repertory.
The B.A. in Theatre with an emphasis in Design/Tech. embraces 6 areas of production: technical direction, stage management, scenic, costume and lighting design and technology. Students majoring in this area have ample opportunities to Stage Manage, assist in design or design and are routinely assigned such roles as: master electrician, props master, dresser, scenic artist, stitcher, etc. B.A.’s work alongside graduate students and a faculty of working professionals.
