SPA Undergraduate Students Research Grant Award
For the first time ever, three undergraduate students within the College for Design and Social Inquiry’s School of Public Administration were recently awarded a grant from Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Safeea Ali, Ms. Emy Fahie, and Mr. John Wilkins, all undergraduate students pursuing Bachelors in Public Management will be conducting a research study focusing on the causes and potential solutions impacting Florida Atlantic University Student Retention. The research grant will enable the students to conduct their research, perform experimental tests, and conclude a paper which will be submitted to an academic peer-reviewed journal for publication. The students will be conducting a program evaluation using mixed methods consisting of quantitative, qualitative, and financial analysis. The findings arising from the research will provide insight into the dynamics and factors affecting student retention at Florida Atlantic University with implications for higher education institutions both globally and nationwide. The faculty mentor leading the research effort and instrumental in obtaining the grant award, Daniel G. Bauer, is one of our PhD students, within the School of Public Administration. Daniel can be reached on firstname.lastname@example.org. The students will be participating in the Undergraduate Research Day poster session Friday, April 5, 2013. The research study is expected to be concluded in September-October 2013 timeframe.
