The FAU Elite OWL is a premiere ambassador leadership program designed to recognize exemplary student leaders at Florida Atlantic University. Through Elite Owls you are given the opportunity for personal leadership development as well as facilitating leadership development for students at FAU. Elite Owls along with FAU are in a period of tradition building and by becoming an Elite Owl you are able to not only be a part of the tradition but you are in the center of building the tradition yourself.
 
Elite Owls Mission Statement : To build a strong leadership foundation across the campuses while creating possibilities for student leaders to engage others in making an everlasting mark on the community and student body; in and out of the classroom. 
 
 

Introducing the 2013 - 2014 Elite Owls


Kayla Woody

Kayla Woody

Kayla is a senior majoring in Elementary Education and is very active on campus. Kayla is one of our Veteran Elite Owls as well as a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, Order of Omega Greek Honor Society and the Student Alumni Association. She is also currently in progress of becoming a Certified Student Leader. Kayla has been a member of Alpha Delta Pi since fall 2010 and has held 2 positions within the chapter. Kayla was born in Littleton, Colorado and lived there until she moved to Oviedo, FL in 2004. She just recently moved back to Aurora, Colorado and currently resides there when not here at school. Kayla loves helping her community whenever possible. Some ways she is involved are through Up Til Dawn with her sorority and the FAU community. She also is involved in raising money for Relay for Life and has donated 11 inches of her hair. She loves to work with her philanthropy the Ronald McDonald House, making dinners, and helping with their big fundraising events.

Cassandra Smith, known as Cassie to most, is a sophomore on the Boca Raton campus of FAU. She is a nursing major who also hopes to minor in communications or business as well. Cassie, along with her full time schedule, is involved on campus through not only Elite owls, but her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, as well. Cassie is enjoying her sophomore year as a rookie Elite Owl and can't wait to see what this opportunity brings. Go Owls!


Ashlee Mclymont

Ashlee Mclymont is a Sophomore at the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College on the McArthur Campus. She is majoring in English Literature with a Minor in Spanish. Ashlee is heavily involved with student residential life and is the National Communications Coordinator for MacRSA. Ashlee is also a Student Ambassador on the Jupiter Campus and loves getting new students acclimated to the campus. She joined the Elite Owls in the beginning of her Sophomore year and hopes to become a liaison for the Jupiter Campus. Ashlee was born in Clarendon, Jamaica but has lived in South Florida for much of her life and considers FAU to be her second home. She spends most of her time giving back to her Church as a Youth Leader and Praise and Worship Leader. When she graduates, Ashlee wants to pursue her PhD in Law and English Literature and be a resource for underprivileged students in higher education.

Lizzy Horsmanliz

Lizzy is a senior studying elementary education. She is not only an elite owl but also a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, Order of Omega Greek Honor Society, and is in the process of becoming a certified student leader on campus. Lizzy has been a sister of Alpha Delta Pi since the fall of 2010, and has held 2 positions other than her current one as Alumni Relations Chair. She was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi in the spring of 2012 and was recently inducted into Order of Omega last spring. Lizzy was born in West Palm Beach, Florida where her family currently resides. Lizzy is excited to be an Elite Owl and is excited to enhance her leadership skills on campus!

Alyssa Nutter

Alyssa is a junior, Political Science major and is very involved on campus. Along with being an Elite Owl, she is also a sister of Alpha Delta Pi, a Resident Assistant for Housing and Residential Life, and a member of National Residence Hall Honorary, along with other Honor Societies. In Alpha Delta Pi, Alyssa has held the position of spirit chair and is currently the chaplain. Alyssa was also a pride leader for her sorority, which entailed gathering different sisters together to build more bonds and connections. As a Resident Assistant for Heritage Park Towers, Alyssa loves what she does, because she gets to be a positive role model for her residents and loves to help with their transition from high school to college life. In Alyssa's free time she likes to give back to the community by helping with service events such as cooking at the Ronald McDonald house, which is Alpha Delta Pi's national philanthropy or attending Relay for Life. After college, Alyssa plans to attend Law School somewhere in Florida.

Shelby Millsshelby

Shelby Mills is a junior majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Hospitality Management. Shelby is an active student on the Boca Raton campus and loves to stay busy and involved. She is a proud sister of Alpha Delta Pi and a dedicated Resident Assistant in Indian River Towers. Some of her favorite leadership positions include serving as Scholarship chair for her sorority, holding the title of Leadership Ambassador for Student Involvement & Leadership as an Elite Owl, and serving as a committee member for the Staff Development team in housing.  She has a passion for teaching and loves student affairs, making the Elite Owls program a perfect fit! She hopes to inspire others and help people discover their true potential in this next year!
Tyler Hodgestyler Tyler Hodges, a Jacksonville, Florida native is a senior on the Boca Raton Campus. She is majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish. In addition to Elite Owls, Tyler has a full plate of campus involvement, including holding the position of the 2013-2014 president for the National Council of Negro Women, along with other organizations and clubs as well. In her free time she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Tyler is excited to be apart of the Elite Owl team and can't wait to make a positive impact on the FAU community.
Kaley Van Zile                    Kaley Van Zile

Kaley is a junior majoring in Management Information Systems, minoring in both Marketing and Criminology, and is very active on campus. Born and raised in Tampa, Kaley is proud to be an FAU Owl and loves to share her spirit as an Elite Owl and as a Resident Assistant & Student Assistant in Heritage Park Towers. Kaley is a very active member of the National Residence Hall Honorary, where she serves as the Scholastics Chair and holds an executive board position as the Representative at all housing conferences! She is also a member of Phi Eta Sigma, Student Alumni Association, and has worked alongside the Resident Student Association since her freshman year. Kaley was a Timucua Pageant contestant and attended three weekend long housing conferences representing FAU in her sophomore year. Kaley loves giving back to the community by engaging in community service such as, participating annually in all the Day of Service events, Race for the Cure, Team Captain in Relay for Life, and volunteering her free time at the Memory and Wellness Center on campus. When she graduates, Kaley hopes to pursue her Master's in Higher Education, continuing to work with students within the University system.



Lindsay Rinnerlindsay Lindsay Rinner, originally from Orlando, is a sophomore on the Boca Raton campus. Lindsay has been a proud member of Program Board since four days into her freshman year! She started off as a volunteer and is now the Director of Program Board. As an Elite Owl she has enrolled in the Certified Student Leader program. She is a Film major and hopes to move to Chicago to study improv at the Second City after she graduates! Lindsay's dream is to become a comedy writer and producer for a television show. In her spare time Lindsay loves to watch TV, go to the movies, and hang out with her friends! She's looking forward to all the leadership and service opportunities that this year in Elite Owls will bring!

Nick Mundo

Nick Mundo is a Pre-Business major and a sophomore on the Boca Raton campus. He has a strong desire to not only develop his leadership skills, but also be a role model and an inspiration to others. During his freshman year he completed the Certified Student Leader program. Nick also enjoys volunteering and helping out in his community. He was born in Joliet, Illinois but has moved frequently throughout his life. He has lived in Illinois, California, Virginia, and Florida. When Nick is not at school, he resides at his home in Fort Myers, Florida. His goal is to become an Officer in the United States Marine Corps after he graduates from FAU. As an Elite Owl, Nick hopes to make an impact at FAU by helping students reach their leadership potential.

Aneal Ramkissoon is an International Student pursuing a Communications major with a minor in English. Aneal is a strong believer in having a strong balance between academics and campus involvement. Aneal currently serves as the Director of COSO for the Boca Raton Campus. Aneal also held various positions in Student Government such as President's Chief of Staff and the Executive Marketing Director. Aneal is a proud brother of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Aneal is eager to make an impact and make a difference on campus. Aneal is a proud believer in striving to become the best version of yourself, all while holding owls fingers loud and proud.
