The Public Procurement Research Center (“PPRC”), an Interdisciplinary Center at Florida Atlantic University, is pleased to announce the debut of the County Purchasing Directors Initiative.
The Initiative is an informal venue for purchasing directors to share and collaborate best practices within the field of public procurement within their counties. The County Purchasing Directors Initiative is an outreach program included in the PPRC Ecosystem,

Within that context, The PPRC is hosting the first gathering of the Broward County Purchasing Directors. The meeting will be held at Florida Atlantic University’s Fort Lauderdale campus on October 16, 2014 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The meeting will take place on the 10th floor of the Higher Education Complex.
The County Purchasing Directors Initiative’s next meeting will represent the first gathering of the Palm Beach County Purchasing Directors.

Daniel G. Bauer, Managing Director of the Public Procurement Research Center at Florida Atlantic University, has been selected as a Member of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Team of Specialists on Public-Private Partnerships (“UNECE TOS on PPPs”). Daniel will be attending the Sixth Session of the Team of Specialists on Public-Private Partnerships, to be held June 23-24, 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland. Daniel joins as one of only 16 Academics, 227 Advisors, and 55 Public Officials comprising the Team of Specialists.
The UNECE TOS on PPPs mandate is to increase the expertise of governments to identify, negotiate, manage, and implement successful public-private partnerships. This will be done through exchange of knowledge and experiences of PPPs by member countries, including experts from public and private sectors, particularly in the identification and testing of best practices. The activities will result in guides on best practice, studies and innovative tools that can be used in capacity-building programs and training with special emphasis on six key areas: Water & Sanitation, Renewable Energy, Roads, Information and Communications Technology (“ICT”), Healthcare, and Good Governance.
The UNECE consists of 56 member nations, including countries of Europe, North America, Central Asia, and Western Asia. The UNECE was formerly founded in 1947.
