University Police
Boca Raton Campus

Florida Atlantic University Police is a full-service law enforcement agency that houses more than 35 State certified, highly trained, sworn law enforcement officers.  Many of our officers hold advanced or specialized certifications.  Officers are responsible for enforcing Florida criminal and traffic statutes, as well as FAU rules and regulations.
Patrol is the backbone of the police department, and is the division most people on campus will come into contact with.

Patrol is comprised of Road Patrol, and the Police Cyclists Unit.

Police Cyclists Unit
The Police Cyclist Unit (PCU) consists of trained officers on police package bicycles equipped to perform both emergency and non-emergency responses throughout the entire FAU Campus.  The unit provides detailed patrol through parking lots, Residence Halls, Student Apartments, inner campus and field areas where cars are not able to gain access.

Road Patrol
Road Patrol makes use of marked police vehicles along with golf carts and walking patrols, to effectively ensure safety and security for all students, faculty, staff and visitors of the university.  Officers enforce traffic laws, investigate and report criminal activity and assist crime prevention in keeping FAU one of the state's safest Universities.

Surveillance & Technology
FAU Police Department uses technology such cameras to augment its human resources. There are currently over 1000 cameras deployed across all FAU campuses.  In addition, the University has made a significant investment in electronic access control on all campuses.

Dispatch Hours
FAU Police Department has officers on duty 24/7 throughout campus.  Dispatch is also manned 24 hours a day to respond to requests for assistance.  Please call 561-297-3500 for non-emergency or 911 for emergency assistance.

Community Service Officer
The Community Service Officer program is a student employment program that hires up to 10 students at time.  Students who are selected to serve as CSOs are given high quality training, in order to patrol campus on foot, in golf carts and in marked cars.  CSOs are another trained set of eyes on campus, watching for suspicious activity, offering battery boost, lock out, crime prevention warnings, and traffic crash response.

Parking Service Technicians
Parking and Transportation Services employs approximately 9 Parking Service Technicians. PSTs duties include enforcement of parking regulations and to ensure order and safety in the parking lots.  PSTs are available to assist students, staff and visitors with information, battery boost, and lock outs.  They are also trained to be watchful and report any suspicious activity.

RAD Training
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. Instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy for R.A.D. graduates.  For more information visit our RAD System Registration Page.

Night Owls
The NightOwls program is a student run evening escort service.  FAU students who need a ride to or from class, the library, residence halls, parking lots, or any other location on the Boca Raton Campus can call the NightOwls for a free ride.   Call (561) 297-6695 for more information and hours.

Crime Prevention Training

FAU PD participates in campus wide safety classes and workshops for students, staff and faculty.  Officers are engaged in many different Crime Prevention Programs that include a certified instructor in workplace violence, as well as various programs geared to students including Hall programs that focus on student and dorms safety.
