FAU to Host 25th Anniversary Mass for Catholic Ministries

BOCA RATON, Fla. (January 10, 2013) - Florida Atlantic University's Newman Club, Diocese of Palm Beach and the Friends of Newman organization will host the 25th Anniversary Mass for Catholic Ministries on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Auditorium, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

"Celebrating 25 years is a significant achievement for Catholic ministries at FAU,” said Giovanni DeMezier, president of FAU’s Newman Club. “The club has been blessed to play a role in ministries and celebrating this mass is a way of recognizing the success of those who came before us and to serve as a visual example of this year's Newman club themes - total immersion in faith, community and student life."

FAU’s Newman Club is a student organization committed to providing opportunities for students to celebrate Catholic sacraments and living while attending college. The club has weekly meetings and monthly events, and works with Catholic Campus Ministries through St. Joan of Arc and the Diocese of Palm Beach to provide weekly confession, adoration and an on-campus mass. Prior to the club’s existence, the Diocese of Palm Beach served FAU students by sending local seminarians, deacons and priests to campus to provide spiritual development through confession, masses, lecture series, adoration and biblical studies.

The Bishop of the Diocese of Palm Beach, the Most Reverend Gerald M. Barbarito, will deliver the mass. A reception will follow.
