FAU Foundation Board Appoints Three New Members

BOCA RATON, Fla. (November 15, 2013)  –  The Florida Atlantic University Foundation recently welcomed three new members to its board of directors: Robert Robes ’93, J. Michael Woody and Richard Yules, M.D. The FAU Foundation  Board of Directors is comprised of a dedicated group of alumni and friends of the University who volunteer their time and expertise to spearhead fundraising efforts and manage the Foundation’s  assets.

“I am pleased to welcome  our three new members  to the FAU Foundation Board,” said Joanne Davis, interim vice president for community engagement and executive director of the FAU Foundation. “Each of these gentlemen offers different experience and strengths, which combined with their dedication to this University, will greatly  benefit the Foundation and the FAU community as a whole.”

Robes is a shareholder with Greenberg Traurig, P.A. His experience includes implementing complex wealth preservation techniques for high net-worth individuals, structuring closely held family entities and advising exempt organizations. Robes also serves on the  board of trustees for the YMCA of South Palm Beach County;  as a director of Florence Fuller Child Development Centers; and as an honorary board member for BioPlanet USA.  He  received a bachelor’s degree in political science from FAU,  a law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law and a master of laws degree in taxation from New York University School of Law.

Woody is senior vice president, corporate and commercial banking team lead for BankUnited, where he serves the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast. His community and civic involvement includes serving on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of South Florida, and as a member of Leadership Broward Foundation, the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, and the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.

Dr. Yules is a retired brigadier general and former Air National Guard assistant to the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs.  Previously, he founded and was managing director of Haelen Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., for 20 years; chairman of the  Worcester City Hospital EENT department for 13 years; and was an FAA Class I aviation medical examiner and senior crash investigator for 24 years. Yules received both B.A. and M.D. degrees from Yale University, attended Stanford University for his general and plastic surgery residency, and Harvard University for his ENT residency.
