FAU Receives ‘Business of the Year Award’ from the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce
BOCA RATON, FL (May 17, 2012) – Florida Atlantic University received the “Business of the Year Award” from the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce at its annual awards luncheon today. The Boca Chamber Business Awards celebrates entrepreneurs, business people and institutions that create goods, services and jobs, as well as bring opportunity and economic prosperity to Boca Raton’s community.
“This is a wonderful day for Florida Atlantic University and the Boca Raton community,” said FAU President Mary Jane Saunders. “To be recognized by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce is such an honor and achievement. Each year, the Chamber presents the “Business of the Year Award” to a company or institution that has experienced continued growth, overcome major obstacles, earned major accomplishments, and demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the community.
FAU was selected due to its tremendous growth and development, continued commitment to excellence in education, and forward progress over the past few years. The University has brought increased value to Boca Raton by establishing the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine and a new on-campus football stadium, while remaining a champion of local business and community involvement.
