FAU Calendar of Events for the Week of April 1

BOCA RATON, Fla. (April 1, 2013) – Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:

‘Lincoln and the American Civil War’ Exhibition at Wimberly Library

Florida Atlantic University Libraries have altered the exhibition schedule for
“Lincoln and the American Civil War” – a 450-piece collection of rare letters, artwork, artifacts, military uniforms, weapons, documents and portraits that recounts the story of a fragmented United States during the presidency of Abraham Lincoln – by addingviewings by appointment-only through Friday, April 12 . The exhibition’s materials are on loan from Hollywood resident Bob Matis, whose first trip to Gettysburg with his father 25 years ago ignited a passion for Civil War history; and FAU Libraries’ permanent collections, including the Marvin & Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection, the Elliot Cross and James A. Cross Civil War Collection and the Arlyn Austin Katims Civil War Collection.

FAU’s Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts to Offer Weekly Tours

The tours are free and open to the public on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center at the Wimberly Library, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. For more information,

The Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for Book Arts at FAU’s Wimberly Library is one of the nation’s most prominent centers for books handmade by artists. No reservations are necessary for the tours. Donations are appreciated.
