FAU Calendar of Events for the Week of February 25

BOCA RATON, Fla. (February 25, 2013) – Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:
FAU’s Wimberly Library to Host ‘Lincoln and the American Civil War’ Exhibition

The free exhibition will be open for viewing beginning Monday, Feb. 25 through Wednesday, March 27, (with the exception of Monday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 4) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FAU’s Wimberly Library, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. “Lincoln and the American Civil War” is an exhibition of rare letters, art work, documents, portraits and military uniforms and weapons that recounts the story of a fragmented United States during the 16th presidency of Abraham Lincoln. The materials are on loan from collector Bob Matis of Hollywood and the FAU Libraries’ permanent collections, including the Marvin & Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection, the Elliot Cross and James A. Cross Civil War Collection and the Arlyn Austin Katims Civil War Collection. The exhibition is sponsored by FAU Libraries and the Department of History. 


FAU's Honors College to Present ‘Navy Seals: A View from the Inside’ by Lt. Hector J. Delgado

This free event will be held on Friday, March 1 at 1 p.m., at FAU's John D. MacArthur Campus, AD Auditorium, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter

Lt. Hector J. Delgado, a Navy SEAL team member for more than 24 years, will be a guest speaker at the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College Faculty Forum. He will present a fascinating look inside America’s most elite combat unit.
Lt. Delgado was a member of SEAL Team II and SEAL Team IV; he has also served as a U.S. Marshall and a Special Agent for Homeland Security.
