FAU Jupiter’s Lifelong Learning Society Presents John Easterling, Eco-Entrepreneur and Founder of the Amazon Herb Company

JUPITER, FL (January 23, 2012) - Florida Atlantic University’s Lifelong Learning Society Jupiter will present a lecture by  John Easterling, on Tuesday,  February 7, at 1:30 p.m., in the Lifelong Learning Society complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter.

Easterling’s lecture, “Amazon Secrets Revealed: The Keys to a Vibrant Life and a Sustainable Future for the Rainforest,” will examine human relationships with plants and look at new discoveries that may change the course of degenerative diseases.  Easterling will explain how rainforest plants offer unique profiles of chemistry, nutrition and information.

Easterling, an eco-entrepreneur, has been a treasure hunter in South America since 1976. He has worked with a variety of curanderos in the highlands and rainforest of Peru, and is a contributing author of Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Planet. With a degree in environmental studies, he founded the Amazon Herb Company in 1990 and serves on the board of the Amazon Center of Environmental Education and Research.

The Amazon Herb Company was also recently recognized for its contributions to Rainforest preservation when it received the “Vision For Tomorrow” recognition by the Direct Selling Association. His 30 years of rainforest experience have been profiled on TV and Radio, including Good Morning America and Fox and Friends. He has been featured in two PBS documentaries, World News Report’s “Amazon John and Rainforest Medicines” and Jean Michel Cousteau’s “Return to the Amazon.”
