FAU Presents Lecture on 'Israel’s Mess Media'
BOCA RATON, FL (December 17, 2008) – Florida Atlantic University will present a free public lecture entitled “Israel’s Mess Media” on Sunday, January 11 at 4 p.m. in the Performing Arts Building, room 101 on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. The lecture will be presented by Sam Lehman-Wilzig, professor of political studies at Bar-Ilan University (BIU) in Israel.
Lehman-Wilzig is an authority on Israeli extra-parliamentary behavior, as well as Israeli media and election campaigns. Regarding the former, he has published numerous articles and two books in English (one translated to Hebrew). In the field of communications, Lehman-Wilzig has written a popular textbook, Handbook of Mass Communications, and authored several scholarly articles on new media and political communication. Lehman-Wilzig has served as head of BIU’s division of journalism and mass and communication studies; chair of the Israel Political Science Association; founder and head of BIU’s public communications program within the department of political studies since 1994; and chair of the political studies department.
The lecture is presented by FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, and Alan L. Berger, Raddock Family Eminent Scholar Chair in Holocaust Studies and director of the Center for the Study of Values and Violence after Auschwitz. No reservations are required for the lecture.
