FAU’s College of Business Adams Center for Entrepreneurship Receives “In Good Company” Scholarship from Jeffrey Firestone

BOCA RATON, FL (October 29, 2008) – Florida Atlantic University’s Adams Center for Entrepreneurship recently received a generous scholarship donation of $10,000 from Jeffrey Firestone of Boca Raton, Florida.  Firestone, a supporter of the Adams Center’s vision and mission to assist aspiring entrepreneurs in a fast-changing and highly competitive global environment, has also previously donated to other scholarship funds at FAU, including the “Take Note” music scholarship.

The “In Good Company” scholarship will specifically provide aid to students exploring the latest theories and potential solutions in social entrepreneurism, new venture creation and sustainability concepts, and how it relates to local and global issues.  One requirement for those receiving this scholarship includes the completion of community service, thus educating students that an entrepreneur is only successful when they also give back to the community.

The goal of the Adams Center is to prepare students to be leaders in business, science, engineering and all other disciplines in which students are looking to become entrepreneurs through business ownership or through business ventures.

A University of Miami graduate, Firestone through his company, The ExporTrade Corporation, markets, distributes and finances various consumer products to private and public companies in the Caribbean and Latin America. Committed to grass roots causes, Firestone is also founder and chairman of ChariTEES®, a company that provides t-shirts and other promotional products to the non profit community for their fundraising efforts.

He also established LiberTEES to provide job opportunities to wounded Iraq/Afghanistan War veterans engaged in the promotional product industry.   Firestone’s newest venture, Alternative Energy Solutions, addresses the need for sustainable energy products and recycling projects in the Caribbean.  Through his efforts and through profits from these entities, subsequent donations will be made to FAU’s Adams Center for Entrepreneurship.

Firestone resides in Boca Raton with his wife, Susan, and is blessed with five grandchildren.
