Lebanese prize-winning author Tracy Chamoun will speak about the evolution of Lebanon’s political dynamics, underscoring the main events that threatened communal co-existence and stability in the country. She also will assess the present political dynamics, analyzing their impact on the future of Lebanon.

The political history of her prominent family in Lebanon will be weaved in the narrative of her talk.  Chamoun is the granddaughter of former Lebanese President Camille Chamoun (1952-1958). After living through a bloody 15-year Lebanese civil war, which eventually led to the assassination of her father, Dany Chamoun, along with his second wife and their two sons in October 1990, she became an advocate for peace and political stability in Lebanon. Chamoun’s personal narrative, Au Nom du Pere (In the Name of the Father), was awarded the prestigious Prix Verite (Prize of Truth) for best nonfiction work in 1992. She published her second book, Amare, in 1993.
