FAU Invites Public to Share Thoughts on the Current Presidential Campaigns at the Spoken Word Café
BOCA RATON (September 22, 2008) – The University Galleries in Florida Atlantic University’s School of the Arts in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters invites the public to share thoughts and feelings on the university’s Political Circus: A 3 – Ring Reflection on the 2008 Election Campaigns exhibition and the political circus that inspired it at the Spoken Word Café, on Thursday, September 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. The public forum will take place in the Ritter Gallery on the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road.
Participants are invited to share a reading, artistic performance or impromptu remarks with the audience. Presentations should be limited to five minutes and more than one presentation per person is possible if time permits. Advance sign up is encouraged by contacting Caren Neile, director of the South Florida Storytelling Project and professor in FAU’s School of Communication and Multimedia Studies, at email@example.com. Light refreshments will be served.
Political Circus is an exhibition presenting election campaign paraphernalia and contemporary artworks examining the current presidential campaign. Items on display include bumper stickers, posters, t-shirts, buttons, hats and other paraphernalia related to this historic election, as well as art work created for or as a reaction to the campaigns. The exhibition will run through Saturday, November 1 in the Ritter Gallery. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
