JUPITER, FL (May 15, 2009) – The Lifelong Learning Society at Florida Atlantic University’s Jupiter campus recently awarded two undergraduate and one graduate scholarship for $1,000 each. Lauren Kellar, a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership, received the Dr. Kristen O. Murtaugh Graduate Scholarship, named in honor of the former campus vice president. In addition, the Lifelong Learning Society donated $5,000 to each of three academic areas on the Jupiter campus: the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and the University Center for Excellence in Writing/Writing Center.
“It is important for Florida Atlantic University to maintain valuable programs,” said René Friedman, executive director of the Lifelong Learning Society. “And with this support it is my hope that the students will share their academic accomplishments with our Lifelong Learning students.”
