FAU Calendar of Events for the Week of March 21, 2011

BOCA RATON, FL (March 21, 2011) –
Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:

FAU’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College to Host Open House

The open house will take place on Saturday, March 26, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., at  FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Drive, Jupiter.

Prospective students and their families are invited to visit the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College and learn more about its four-year residential program in liberal arts and science. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., and light refreshments will be served.  A panel presentation, including current faculty, staff and students, starts at 1 p.m., with information sessions on academic programs, admissions, financial aid, housing and student life.  Campus tours will be offered.    


FAU’s Department of Music Presents the Florida Wind Symphony Chamber Players Performing ‘The Gran Partita’

The concert takes place on Saturday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m., at the Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center, Plaza Real, in Boca Raton. The concert is free, with a donation suggested. For more information, call 561-297-3820.

Kyle Prescott conducts this concert, as the ensemble performs Mozart’s masterwork for 13 winds.


FAU’s Department of Sociology Presents the Film ‘The Elephant Man’

The film will be shown on Tuesday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m., in the Performing Arts Building, room 101, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. Admission is free. For more information, call 561-297-3270.

“The Elephant Man” is a film about a deformed 19 th century Londoner. This movie is a part of the Sociocinema Thinking Film Series, which runs through Tuesday, April 12.


FAU’s Department of Languages, Linguistics and Comparative Literature Presents the French Film, ‘The Silence of Lorna’

The film will be shown on Wednesday, April 6, from 6 to 9 p.m., in the Performing Arts Building, room 101, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. Admission is free. For more information, call 561-297-2533.

“The Silence of Lorna” is a film about an Albanian immigrant who is struggling to improve her life.
