FAU Nursing Professor to Participate in Oxford Roundtable

Professor will also be inducted into the National Academies of Practice

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (March 18, 2009) - Jill E. Winland-Brown, EdD, MSN, FNP-BC, professor and family nurse practitioner with FAU’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, will participate this month in the annual Oxford Round Table in England titled "Ethics: The Convolution of Contemporary Values.” Winland-Brown will be presenting a paper concerning her recent research with the St. Lucie Medical Center titled, "A Comparison of Physicians' and Nurses' Responses to Selected Ethical Dilemmas.” She will be one of 35 visiting scholars from around the world at this weeklong think tank on business ethics.  A variety of disciplines will be represented, including economists, lawyers, physicians, politicians and philosophers.

Upon her return, Winland-Brown will be inducted into the National Academies of Practice at a Sunday, March 29 ceremony in Washington D.C.  The Academy, comprised of distinguished interdisciplinary advisors and health care policy makers, includes professionals in dentistry, medicine, nursing, optometry, osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, podiatric medicine, psychology, social work and veterinary medicine. 

Winland-Brown, a Vero Beach resident, has been a member of FAU’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing faculty since 1983. She is an established researcher and published author in the nursing discipline and was named one of FAU’s University Distinguished Professors. Winland-Brown has been teaching and conducting research from FAU’s Treasure Coast campus in Port St. Lucie for five years.
