FAU’s Chamber Soloists in Concert
BOCA RATON, FL (March 2, 2009) – Florida Atlantic University’s Chamber Soloists will present two concerts entitled New World Visitors and their Music, Part II, with the music of Khachaturian, Milhaud, Ravel and Rachmaninoff in March. The first concert will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 3 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Auditorium on FAU’s Davie Campus, 2912 College Avenue. The second concert will take place on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. in the University Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $10.
Leonid Treer is the artistic director and pianist for the Chamber Soloists. The concerts will also feature Mei Mei Luo on piano and violin, and Richard Hancock on clarinet. Luo, born and raised in China during the Cultural Revolution, began her musical studies at age five on the piano, with violin studies beginning at age eight. At twelve, she performed with the Peking Opera Company. In the United States, Luo has performed with the Philadelphia Concerto Soloists and the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra.
Treer, who was born in the former Soviet Union, has performed throughout the former USSR, Europe, Israel, the United States, Australia and the People’s Republic of China as a soloist chamber musician.
