PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (March 27, 2008) - Hoyt C. “Pat” Murphy, Jr. was recently named the new chair of Florida Atlantic University’s Treasure Coast Campus Advisory Board. Murphy, a 1981 FAU graduate, is president of Hoyt C. Murphy, Inc. Realtors, a well-known and respected Fort Pierce-based firm established in 1949.
“I am very pleased to be the chair of this important group that supports FAU’s higher education initiatives on the Treasure Coast,” said Murphy. “My degree from FAU has been an important tool in my success, and it is great to see the same opportunities afforded to our area residents.”
Murphy’s wife, Laura, is also a proud alumna, having earned her business degree in 1986. “Attending FAU was a wonderful experience for both of us,” he said. “I am excited to still be actively involved with this growing university.”
The Treasure Coast Campus of Florida Atlantic University receives a substantial amount of community support through its advisory board consisting of area business leaders, state and local elected officials, FAU Board of Trustee members and school superintendents. Senate President Ken Pruitt spearheaded the establishment of the board to advocate the healthy growth and expansion of the FAU Treasure Coast Campus.
