BOCA RATON, FL (March 18, 2008) – Award-winning fiction writer Ron Carlson, once described as the “master of the short story,” will visit Florida Atlantic University’s Boca Raton campus with two public events this Spring. The first will be a talk on Tuesday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Ritter Gallery and the second will be a reading on Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. in the Board of Trustees room of the Kenneth R. Williams Administration Building. Both events are free and open to the public.
Carlson is the author of nine books of fiction, including his novel Five Skies, which was selected for a New York Times Editors’ Choice award. His short stories have appeared in Esquire, Harper’s, and The New Yorker. The short story “Keith” was recently made into a film scheduled for release in 2008. He is currently director of the Graduate Fiction Writing Program at the University of California, Irvine.
Carlson is the Lawrence A. Sanders 2008 Writer-in-Residence in the department of English in FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. The Lawrence A.
