FAU’s Department of Theatre and Dance Presents ‘Marisol’
BOCA RATON, FL (February 15, 2010) – Florida Atlantic University’s department of theatre and dance in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will present the 1993 Obie Award-winning play “Marisol” from Friday, February 19 through Sunday, February 28 in the Studio One Theatre on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. General admission tickets are $16. Tickets may be purchased by visiting www.fauevents.com, by calling 800-564-9539 or at the theatre one hour prior to the performance.
The play is a story about Mariso Perez, a young Latino woman who is a copy editor for a Manhattan publisher who lives alone in the dangerous Bronx neighborhood of her childhood. As she is approached by her guardian angel, she becomes thrust into the revolution occurring in Heaven and simultaneously the New York City streets. The Village Voice described the play this way "…Rivera's play is angry, fearsome, fantastic, and poetically frenzied, without surrendering either its sanity or its mordant sense of humor…It's a cry from the poet's heart."
