FAU Hosts ‘Proceed and Be Bold,’ an Exhibition of Printing Posters by Amos Paul Kennedy Jr.

WHAT:               The Arthur and Mata Jaffe Center for
                            Book Arts at Florida Atlantic University
                            Libraries is hosting an exhibition of colorful
                            posters exploring issues of race, gender and
                            artistic expression titled “Proceed and Be Bold,”
                            by artist Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. of Gordo, Ala.
                            A film by  the same title, the story about Kennedy,
                            who describes himself as a “humble negro printer,”
                            will be screened.


WHEN:
              Monday, February 15, through Sunday, May 9,
                            for the exhibition Thursday, February 18 at 3 p.m.
                            for a film screening Friday, February 19, at 7 p.m.
                            for a film screening and a Q&A with Kennedy

COST:
                 Exhibition is free and open to the public. Donations
                             accepted at the screenings.

            Amos Paul Kennedy Jr. is a letterpress printer, papermaker and builder of artists books. In addition, he is an educator, performance artist and author of such books as Charm/Snake and the Riddle. Donations collected at the film screening benefit the Jaffe center. The exhibition can be viewed during library hours, which can be found at www.library.fau.edu/geninfo/hours.htm?boca or by calling 561-297-3770. For the portion of the exhibition found inside the Jaffe center, hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.jaffecollection.org.
