FAU Visiting Scholar Examines Iraq, Afghanistan and   Lessons from Vietnam

            BOCA RATON, FL (February 17, 2009) – Florida Atlantic University’s department of history presents foreign policy expert Marilyn B. Young with the lecture “Hearts and Minds: Counterinsurgency From Vietnam to Afghanistan and Iraq.” The lecture will take place on Wednesday, February 25 at 4 p.m. in the Education Building, room 119, on the Boca Raton campus, 777 Glades Road. The lecture is free and open to the public.   (Please stop by FAU’s information booth on Glades Road for a parking pass.)

            Young is a leading authority on American foreign policy and military history, and one of the foremost historians of the Vietnam War. A professor of history at New York University, she has written and edited over a dozen books, including The Vietnam Wars, 1945-1990; Human Rights and Revolutions; The American Empire: A 21 st Century Teach-In on U.S. Foreign Policy; Bombing Civilians: A Twentieth-Century History; and Iraq and the Lessons of Vietnam: Or, How Not To Learn from the Past.
