FAU Professor Named to Board of Directors of the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers
BOCA RATON, FL (February 20, 2008) – Florida Governor Charlie Crist recently appointed Dr. David Devraj Kumar, a professor in Florida Atlantic University’s College of Education, to the board of directors of the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers (FFMT), Inc.
“I am excited about this opportunity to serve the people of Florida,” said Kumar. “I look forward to contributing toward formulating sound policy decisions advancing the mission of the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers.”
Kumar, of Davie, is one of 19 appointments to the board. His term will end on June 30, 2009. Kumar has taught science education in the department of teaching and learning at FAU for the past 15 years.
FFMT enables minority teachers to teach in Florida by providing scholarships to eligible students interested in pursuing careers in Florida, assisting prospective teachers with job placement and career development, and serving as an information resource for students, employers and educators. The board oversees the business and affairs of the corporation.
