FAU’s College of Business to Host Second Annual Economic Forum
BOCA RATON, FL (January 4, 2010) – Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business will host its second annual Economic Forum titled, “Is the Wind at Our Backs Yet?” on Saturday, January 23, 2010 from 9 a.m. to noon in the auditorium of the Office Depot Executive Center, 777 Glades Road, FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
“The College of Business is eager to bring these notorious experts to the Florida Atlantic University campus and local community,” said Dr. Dennis J. Coates, dean of the College. “The Economic Forum will cover major issues related to the financial industry and will offer keen insight to those in attendance.”
The Economic Forum will bring together globally-renowned financial service industry experts Stuart Schweitzer, current managing director and global markets strategist for JPMorgan Private Bank and JPMorgan Asset Management, and Harvey Golub, current non-executive chairman of AIG and Ripplewood Holdings, as well as retired chief executive officer and chairman of American Express, to present on the current economic landscape and the effects of globalization on individual investors.
Schweitzer and Golub will address the events that have eased the financial crisis and will discuss the potential for a “double dip recession.” They also will speak about the influence of global and emerging markets on U.S. individual investors. Audience members will have the opportunity to interact with these experts and gain insights on protecting themselves in highly volatile economic markets.
The three-hour session will be moderated by Donald Shephard, retired chairman of the executive board and CEO of AEGON N.V., one of the world’s leading insurance groups ranked by market capitalization and assets. The event will be preceded by breakfast at 8:15 a.m., and followed by a reception and luncheon for registered attendees.
