C-SPAN’s Campaign 2008 Bus to Visit FAU in Boca Raton
BOCA RATON (January 21, 2008) – The C-SPAN 2008 Campaign Bus will visit the Florida Atlantic University Boca Raton campus on Wednesday, January 23 and Thursday, January 24. The 45-foot, mobile multimedia demonstration center and TV production unit will be located near the residence halls north of Indian River Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday and from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday during the debate watch parties. The public is encouraged to visit the bus.
The Campaign 2008 Bus is part of C-SPAN’s community outreach program that was launched in 2007 as a way to educate voters about the presidential candidates and the political process. The bus is following the presidential candidates on the campaign trail through the November elections providing information and research tools for voters.
“C-SPAN’s campaign bus offers a nonpartisan approach to providing information about the candidates,” said C-SPAN representative Doug Hemmig, “For the undecided voter, it is a way to get neutral information.”
Many of the presidential candidates have been on the bus. When the bus visited Iowa during the Iowa caucus, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former U.S. Senator John Edwards’ wife Elizabeth Edwards took live calls from the bus.
C-SPAN was created by the cable industry and is offered as a public service. More information on the bus can be found at www.c-span.org/schoolbus. The C-SPAN bus visit is part of Join It! Civic Engagement Events that are taking place at FAU prior to the presidential debates that are scheduled on FAU’s Boca Raton campus for January 24 and January 27.
