  • April 1: Writing on the Wall.  The Burrow.  Students will have the opportunity to write what diversity means to them on a paper wall in the Burrow.  Contact kward21@fau.edu for more information.
  • April 1: Gender Bender Dance. 7 pm, the Burrow.  Kings, Princes, and Princesses!  Dress in your finest and come out to the Gender Bender dance!  Queen of Hearts, the Lion King, Prince Joffrey, Princess Buttercup, or whoever!  Others on the royal court are invited as well.  Remember, guests typically dress in a different gender than they identify with!  Contact Claire Robinson at eventsofSpectrum@gmail.com with questions/comments/concerns.
  • April 2: Diversity Workshop. 1 - 2 pm, SR 108.  Enjoy an interactive presentation on the topic of diversity and join us for lunch, provided for those who RSVP.  Contact Khambrel Ward at kward21@fau.edu.  Sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
  • April 2: Honors College Student Works to Provide Jobs for the Homeless
  • April 3: Cultural Art.  2 - 4 pm, the Burrow.  Spend the afternoon creating cultural art in the Burrow with SAVI.  SAVI will have individual art projects representing different cultures for students to assemble.
  • April 4: Immigration Awareness Day. 2 - 10 pm, the Burrow.  A daylong event hosted by the Corn Maya Club in the Burrow to bring awareness to local immigration issues.  For more information, contact faucornmayaclub@gmail.com.
  • April 7: Job Search. 2 pm, SR 283. This workshop will provide you with strategies and tools to kick-start the job search process and locate positions and companies of interest.
  • April 9: 7th Annual Drag Show featuring the Palm Beach Drag Society. 8:30 pm, AD 119.  Join us for a fabulous show as Spectrum kicks off the National Day of Silence!  Ever wanted to ask a drag queen anything?  Here's your chance!  A question and answer session with the queens will be held after the show.  Contact Claire Robinson at EventsofSpectrum@gmail.com.
  • April 10: National Day of Silence. All day until 6:30 pm.  Take a stand on LGBTQIA issues with people across the nation by going silent for a day.  Our silence symbolizes the silencing effect of bullying and harassment encountered by all too many students.  For more information, stop by the Spectrum table in the Dining Hall April 2 - 4 and April 7 - 9 or visit dayofsilence.org.  Contact Claire Robinson at EventsofSpectrum@gmail.com with questions/comments/concerns.
  • April 10: Northern Campuses Achievement Awards. Reception at 4:30 pm, the Burrow. Ceremony at 5:30 pm, AD 119. We will be hosting a reception and awards ceremony on the Jupiter Campus to recognize all award nominees. Contact Devin Sieck at dsieck@fau.edu for more information.

  • March 3 - 9: SPRING BREAK. No classes; offices open.
  • March 10: Applying to Graduate School.  3 pm, SR 283.  This workshop will provide an overview of the application process for graduate and professional school including: issues to consider prior to applying, determining which schools to apply to, and the typical components of an application.  Email lsanti12@fau.edu with questions.
  • March 10: Quick & Easy Dance Lessons. 5 - 6 pm, the Burrow.  Join Diversity Student Services and learn how to dance in 1 hour!  Contact Sabrina Spanier with questions.
  • March 11: COSO Meeting. 5 - 6 pm, AD 204.  COSO meetings are held monthly to distribute valuable information to student organizations.  Contact Rachel Rohan with questions.
  • March 12: Heritage Kickoff. 1 - 2 pm, the Burrow.  Free food, T-shirts, and music in honor of Women's Month.  Contact Khambrel Ward with questions.
  • March 13: Sleep Awareness Presentation. 2 pm, the Burrow. Learn helpful information about that wonderful thing called sleep!  Email Jupiter Rec with questions.
  • March 14: Leadership Institute. 2 - 6 pm, the Burrow.  The Student Leadership Institutes are day long programs created to enhance your leadership skills.  They will prepare you to "Be the Change" for your community or organization.  Email dsieck@fau.edu with questions.

  • March 15: Beach Clean Up. 10 am, Off Campus.  Contact MacRSA to sign up.
  • March 17: Course Registration Opens.  10 p.m.  Don't forget to check for any holds that may prevent you from registering, and schedule an appointment with your advisor.
  • March 17: How to Write a Personal Statement.  3 pm, SR 283.  Your graduate school application consists of several components, but none can be more stressful than your personal statement.  Attend this workshop if you are in need of tips.  Email lsanti12@fau.edu.
  • March 17: Howli.  4 pm, Housing Courtyard.  Wear white shirts to this colorful event celebrating Indian heritage.  Email MacRSA with questions.
  • March 17 - 21: Kindness Week.  A week of activities to promote kindness.  Contact gchris14@fau.edu.
  • March 22: Owl Dance All Night. 6 pm - 1 am, Jupiter Campus.  This is a dance marathon to raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network.  Email gchris14@fau.edu with questions.
  • March 24: Learn a Language in 30 minutes! 5 - 6 pm, the Burrow.  Join Diversity Student Services to learn a different language in 30 minutes!  Email Sabrina Spanier with questions.
  • March 25: Blood Drive.  12 - 6 pm, SR Loop.  One Blood provides incentives to all individuals that choose to donate.  Save a life, donate blood! 
  • March 25:  Honors College Student Attends Graduate Conference in Latin American Studies
  • March 26: Senior Round-Up. 9 pm, Dining Hall.  Students must register here by March 25 in order to pick up Medallion tickets at Round-Up.
  • March 31: Resume Writing.  2 pm, SR 283.  How do you highlight and arrange your accomplishments and achievements on  paper?  Attend a resume writing workshop to learn formatting options, content suggestions, and tips for crafting a general resume and then tailoring it to specific job opportunities.  Email lsanti12@fau.edu with questions.

  • February 12: Love Safely/STI Testing, 12 - 1 pm in the Dining Hall, and 12 - 5 pm in SR 106. This event is during sexual responsibility week.   • February 12: The Great Underwear Dash, 8 - 8:30 pm, Housing Courtyard. This is a clothing drive.  Dress in all the clothes you wish to donate, then strip them off and run to the pool in your skivvies!

  • February 17: Dogs for Disabilities, 12:30 - 1:30 pm, SR 108. Join Diversity Student Services for a presentation about Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and learn about service dogs, volunteer opportunities, and the service dog application process.
  • February 17: Deadline to Apply for an Undergraduate Research Grant. Individual students may receive up to $500, and groups may receive up to $1,000. Visit the Undergraduate Research Grants Program webpage to apply.

The Summer Study Abroad Program is from May 18 - June 21, 2014, and is open to FAU undergraduate and graduate students, and students from other institutions seeking transfer credit.  The program's built around field research at the archaeological site of Rocchicella di Mineo, ancient Paliké, and the location of the most important sanctuary of Sicily's indigenous Sikel people.View the program flyer.
