“ReInventing the Breezeway” Open Forum – Tuesday, April 15! You’re Invited!

Members and friends of the FAU community are cordially invited to participate in the “ReInventing the Breezeway” open forum in the Great Hall of the Marleen and Harold Forkas Alumni Center (building #94) on Tuesday, April 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with designated time slots for various groups. (See schedule below.) If you can’t make it at the time set aside for your group, feel free to attend any time during the day.

Refreshments will be served and FAU promotional items will be given away.

  • 9:30 – 11 a.m. – Alumni and External Community
  • 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Students
  • 1:30 – 3 p.m. – Faculty and Staff
  • 3:15 –  4 p.m. – Wrap-up discussion led by the project architects MC Harry & Associates, Inc.

Successful Grantsmanship Professional Development Seminar

The Charles E. Schmidt College of Science’s Master Researcher program is pleased to announce the creation of professional development seminars aimed at enhancing the research culture and increasing external funding. These professional development seminars are designed for faculty and graduate students to explore the fine points of obtaining grant funding. Three of the College’s top funded researchers - Salvatore Lepore, Dale Gawlik and Xavier Comas – will discuss balancing scholarship, research and obtaining funding as well as experiences with various funding agencies and issues that are highly tailored to the FAU environment. Information Sessions

The Graduate College hosts monthly information sessions. Information sessions are one-hour long presentations that inform prospective graduate students about Florida Atlantic University’s graduate admissions process. Information sessions are held from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Sessions are held in the Undergraduate Admissions Theatre (Student Support Services Building, room 125) at the Boca Raton campus. Scholarly Writing Workshops

The Graduate College is pleased to offer a series of Scholarly Writing Workshops. There is no fee to attend, and students may participate in one, two, or all three workshops. All currently-enrolled FAU graduate students are encouraged to attend. Class sizes are limited; be sure to reserve your space early.

RCR Workshops

The Graduate College, in partnership with the Division of Research, offers a series of workshops each fall and spring semester on the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) for all currently-enrolled graduate students at FAU. The workshops are led by FAU faculty and cover the nine instructional areas of RCR. RCR is a mandatory course for all students working on NSF or NIH-funded programs. 2014 Teaching with Technology Showcase - Saturday, April 5, College of Engineering East Building, Boca Raton Campus

The Teaching with Technology Showcase is designed to open dialogue among FAU faculty members about the effective use of technology to support pedagogical practices in the classroom and online learning environments. By submitting a proposal, you will have the opportunity to showcase how you are incorporating technology to enhance pedagogy in the classroom and discuss advantages and disadvantages.

Graduate students are welcome to attend and encouraged to submit electronic poster sessions which will be displayed. The proposal submission deadline is: Friday, February 28, 2014.
