Dr. Santos at the Smart Policing Annual Conference

Dr. Rachel Boba Santos, Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator for the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, is the research partner for a Bureau of Justice Assistance Smart Policing grant with the Port St. Lucie, FL Police Department. She and Lt. Roberto Santos (pictured), grant project director for the police department and FAU alum (2005, MS in CCJ), presented the research framework and operational plan for the agency’s experimental implementation of offender-based strategies in residential burglary and theft from vehicle hot spots. The meeting, held in Alexandria, VA, was the first annual conference for the 2012 Smart Policing grantees which also included the police departments of Rochester, NY; Columbia, SC; Kansas City, MO; and East Palo Alto, CA.
