SMALL GROUP TRAINING: Spring

Small Group Training classes merge the best of Group Fitness and Personal Training to give participants a unique opportunity to experience a new level of fitness . These group classes offer the feel of individualized attention and instruction, along with the motivation of others to appropriately progress each participant throughout the course. Small Group Training is also the most affordable way to get the extra guidance you need on your health and fitness journey. All activities are available to all FAU students and Rec Members.

AQUATICS

Beginner Swim

Days: Monday & Wednesday 
Time: 7 a.m. - 8 a.m.
Session 1: 1/27 - 2/27 (5 weeks)
Session 2:
3/17 - 4/16 (5 weeks) 
Price: Student - $60, Member - $70, Non-Member - $90

Description:      

This class is for participants who are not comfortable or become easily exhausted in the water.  The instructor will begin by teaching water adjustment, proper body alignment and use simple, safe drills to encourage proper technique.  A large portion of this class will be focused on developing vital stroke mechanics critical to learning the most fundamental freestyle and backstroke techniques.  Classes will be tailored to any additional individuals wants and needs of its students.

Intermediate Swim

Days: Tuesday & Thursday
Time: 7 a.m. - 8 a.m.
Session 1: 1/28 - 2/27 (5 weeks)
Session 2:
3/18 - 4/17 (5 weeks)

Description:      

This class is for adjusted swimmers who want to advance their swimming skills.  The general goal of this class include improved technique and proficiency in freestyle and backstroke, as well as an introduction to butterfly breaststroke.  The student will gain the ability to use water as a medium for recreation and fitness.

 

Swim Workout

Days: Tuesday & Wednesday
Time: 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Description:    

Swim Workout consists of cardio endurance training, strength training, and technique work.  Two one-hour sessions per week will allow time for progression through a variety of strokes with the incorporation of form and conditioning drills.  Some days will focus more on technique and instruction, while others will challenge your fitness and strength.  In addition, participants will work on breathing techniques to increase lung capacity.  swim workout class is designed to prepare students for participation on a club or master's swim team.

No tricks, no gimmicks, and definitely no excuses, just hard work and sweat. Metabolic Conditioning is a great class for anyone looking to take their body to the next level. Phase 1 of the program will use compound movements and supersets to build lean muscle and the transition into Phase 2 will feature circuits, intervals, and intelligent conditioning to get you in the best shape in the least amount of time. Get ready to squat, slam, press, and swing your way to a fitter you.

Girls Gone Strong

Description     

A resistance training program with enrollment limited to women. This unique program offers 8-weeks of group training in a comfortable, noncompetitive and nonjudgmental environment. Girls Gone Strong uses resistance training to empower women and show them that strong is the new skinny.
