Your U.S. Social Security number is needed in order to match your record with all required official documents (transcripts, test scores, and residency). If you are planning on receiving Financial Aid (FAFSA, Bright Futures and Florida Pre-paid), your U.S Social Security number is required. Consistent with Section 119.071(5),Florida Statutes, FAU collects social security numbers only as specifically authorized by law or is imperative for the performance of our duties and responsibilities. Under 26 USC §6050S, the IRS makes it necessary for FAU to collect the SSN of every student. If a student refuses to disclose his or her SSN for this purpose, he or she may be subject to IRS penalties.
Submit official high school transcripts. Prospective students must submit the most recent, official transcripts from any/all high schools (secondary school) in which the student enrolled prior to graduation. Once graduation is taken place, a new copy of the official transcript will need to be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to confirm the receipt of the high school diploma.

If you completed all or part of your education abroad, a translation and evaluation of work completed at each institution will be necessary. Transcripts should be sent to one of the NACES accredited evaluation services for course-by-course evaluation and overall GPA. Submit official test scores. An SAT or ACT is required of all applicants. To have SAT scores sent to Florida Atlantic University contact College Board at www.collegeboard.com or at (866) 630-9305. FAU's SAT school code number is 5229. To have ACT scores sent contact American College Testing Program at www.act.org or (319) 337-1313. FAU's ACT school code number is 0729.
English Proficiency Rquirements Results of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) may be required of students whose first language is not English. Current FAU admission requirements are a score of 550 on the paper-based test (Toefl PBT), or 80 on the internet-based version (Toefl IBT). Also, we accept IELTS instead of Toefl with the minimum score of 6.5. Information about IELTS can be obtained from http://www.ielts.org. FAU now offers TOEFL in the Boca Raton campus. You can find more information about it on our web site at www.fau.edu/admissions/testing/TOEFL.php.
Students are exempt from taking the TOEFL exam if they meet the following criteria:
Students who have attended at least three years of an accredited high school where the primary language of instruction is English.
Students who have at least 60 credit hours from an accredited post secondary institution where the primary language of instruction is English.

Admission decisions are made on rolling basis. A decision is generally rendered within 6 to 8 weeks after the applicant's file is considered complete. The Office of Admissions will notify you by mail of your admission decision. Correspondence will be sent to your permanent address on file.
