Come to the 2013 United Way Campaign Kick-off Happy Hour on Oct. 17
President Crudele cordially invites you to take part in Happy Hour at the Faculty/Staff Club on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. to kick off FAU’s 2013 United Way campaign. There will be refreshments and one free drink ticket for all who attend, as well as raffle prizes. Guest speakers from United Way of Broward County and United Way of Palm Beach County will make presentations about the essential services they are providing in their communities.
This annual campaign gives us an effective way to reach out to people in need in our area. Donations may be made in many ways, including payroll deduction, and they are put to good use by the United Way and the many non-profit organizations that come under the United Way umbrella.
The names of those who sign up to become donors will be entered into a drawing to win prizes that include lunch with President Crudele and tickets to enjoy one of the Owls’ last two home games from the vantage point of the President’s Suite in FAU Stadium.
RSVPs are not necessary. For more information, please contact Erin Molloy at firstname.lastname@example.org or 7-0325. Let’s make this year the most successful ever for FAU’s United Way campaign!
A Little Goes A Long Way Especially during tough economic times, every dollar given to United Way can go a long way to changing someone's life. For this year's campaign, we are challenging every employee to give what they can. Even $1, $3 or $5 a week can make a real difference. Here's how:
• $1 per week buys a month's supply of milk for a family of four living in a shelter
• $3 per week provides a year's worth of school supplies for one student
• $5 per week pays for eight weeks of summer camp for one deserving child
• $10 per week ensures a victim of domestic violence is protected from harm
• $20 per week provides a month of caregiver respite through the Alzheimer's day care program
Designate Your Gift If you are interested in designating your gift to a certain agency or a particular county United Way operation, simply indicate that in the appropriate area of your electronic or paper pledge form.
