The ACT RESIDUAL TEST will not be offered in the months of July and August

    The ACT Residual Testing is conducted on the FAU's Boca Raton campus for students who are enrolled, have been admitted, or are applying to FAU and cannot take the ACT on a regularly scheduled test date because the date does not meet FAU deadlines. Reports for students testing at FAU will be sent ONLY to FAU. No student or High School reports are generated and students may not order additional score reports.
    • Cost Test Administration Fee:
      $68.50 - No Writing
      $83.50 - With Writing
      All testing fees are non-refundable, non-transferable and the test may not be rescheduled.
    • You must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your testing time. Please be prompt. No late arrivals will be admitted.
    • You must provide your own calculator. Please visit the ACT website listed above for allowable calculators prior to testing. It is your responsibility to know if you are using an allowable calculator. The testing center will not provide you with one on test day.
    • FAU requires the Writing section for admission.  If you have not previously taken the Writing section, you must register for the ACT Residual With Writing.
    • If you are taking the ACT Residual with Writing, be aware that it will take approximately 3-4 weeks to receive your writing score. Additionally ONLY FAU will be sent your score. You will NOT be sent a Writing Score Report from ACT.
    • The ACT Residual test is used for admission purposes only. To qualify for scholarships you must take the ACT national test.
    • You may not repeat Residual Testing within 60 days of your previous testing.


    • Test Preparation
      ACT Test Preparation is offered through Florida Atlantic University's Test Preparation Department.

Test Center Regulations

Examinees are required to be  professional, civil and respectful at all time while on the premises of the Test Center. All exams are continuously monitored by video and audio recording, physical walk-through, and through the observation window. The Test Center Staff is authorized to dismiss you from the test session for a violation of any of the Test Center Regulations, including exhibiting abusive behavior towards the Test Center Staff or other examinees. There will a brief security check upon entry to the test room

What to Bring

    A non-expired Photo ID is required and must be presented prior to testing. Your photo ID must be a valid photo ID matching exactly the name you used when registering. NO EXCEPTIONS.  Acceptable forms of ID include:
    • Driver's License
    • State ID Card
    • OWL Card
    • Passport
    • Military ID
    • Tribal ID

Boca Raton Campus


From I-95 take exit #45, which is also known as Glades Road.
From Florida Turnpike take exit #75, which is also known as Glades Road.

Go east, towards the ocean, on Glades Road and make a left on 1st FAU entrance (West Universtiy Drive). Once on campus turn right onto Indian river Street then turn left onto Dade Avenue. Metered Visitor parking(Lot 18) is on the left; located on the south end of the student support services building (also known as SU 80). If you do not have an FAU parking decal you must park in the visitor's parking lot. All visitors must pay to park at FAU. The price is $1.00 per hour or $10.00 a day, you can pay with cash or credit card. Site Address: 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton FL 33431 Building Student Support Services SU 80 suite 210. If you do not have an FAU parking decal you must park in the visitor's parking lot.

On the Davie Campus if you do not have a decal test takers can purchase a day pass for $2 from the Owl card center in SD 201. They need a cash or a check for the amount. They also need their tag number and year of the car. The center is open on Mon and Thurs 8:30-7, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30-4:30, Friday 8:30-3:30. They are closed everyday from 1-2 for lunch. The FAU Testing Center willingly provides special test accommodations for all candidates who qualify for non-standard test administrations. Please send all documentation to FAU Testing Center no later than two weeks prior to your test date. You can fax your documentation to (561) 297-0170 or drop it off at our office in the Student Support Service Building, SU 80 Room 210.

Documentation of your accommodations must :

  • be current- i.e., completed within the past few years for disabilities not of a permanent or unchanging nature.
  • describe the specific accommodations requested
  • adequately support each of the requested testing accommodation(s)
  • be typed or printed on official letterhead and be signed by an evaluator qualified to make the diagnosis.
